JVC RC-828

This JVC RC-828 boombox shares a similar styling philosophy with the RC-838, but it's a bit plainer looking, and not as symmetrical. It measures 470 x 273 x 127 mm. It has 16cm woofers and 5cm tweeters. Power output is 4.6 watts (2.3W per channel).

It is equipped with Biphonic, JVC's proprietary wide-stereo setting. Wide stereo modes introduces a spatial effect to the sound field. Unfortunately, Biphonic did not work as well as Sanyo's Wide mode or Panasonic's Ambience modes. Perhaps it was no coincidence that in later boombox models, JVC did away with Biphonic modes and in fact, did not even offer a Wide mode on most of their models including the very popular M70 and their flagship M90 model.
